Porthcurno Holidays Coding Develop a brand identity and online presence for a new self catering business in Porthcurno, West Cornwall. Project involved: Branding, Visual Design, Site Development Porthcurno holidays is a new development of holiday apartments in part of the former Cable and Wireless engineering college, set in the remote picturesque valley of Porthcurno, which played a major part in Britain's efforts during WW2 and its communication with the globe since 1870. We were approached with regard to developing a brand identity and online presence for the new venture. Gone are the days of relying on the local tourist board to pass on your telephone number to get a reservation. The world wide web has truly put the world at the finger tips of the consumer and to survive in todays market small family run businesses need to adapt fast. With the price of flying on the rise more and more Britains are looking closer to home to find their perfect get away, an ideal time for Porthcurno Holidays to take its slice on the pie and stand out amongst the growing crowded UK holiday market. To help Porthcurno Holidays to stand out amongst its competitors, W2 came up with a simple yet informative solution. One which is easy to navigate and find all the information you need on the apartments, making a reservation and finding out more about the local area. The idea was to present the user with everything they need in a few easy clicks, in a clean and uncrowded environment. Pictures can be viewed alongside information on the apartments without leading the user to other pages or waiting long periods for the next image to load. Pricing is clear and easy to find, its not hidden, it doesn't require a mass of questions to be filled out, it is instantly accessible. Accessibility is a key part to the experience of the site, the user doesn't need to go to a road map or external link to find where the apartments are in relation to the county, nor do they have to research how to get there as the information is already provided for the user to access instantly. Visually the site references the calmness of Porthcurno's golden beaches and miles of coastal walks. Whilst offering a selection of images from the holiday lets themselves and a few teaser snippets of the beauty that the local area has to offer in the header images.
